July 22nd - Campbell River Moorage

Today we had dinner with Bob & Sylvia Cook.  Then they came back to the boat to see it.  Sylvia got to play with Shadow too.  They like cats although they have 3 dogs as well.

We bought a bunch of things at the grocery store for our fishing trip tomorrow - mostly snacks & things to eat which we'll take with us tomorrow.

Our mooring at Discovery Harbor Campbell River

This is a 78' Fleming that is moored on the next dock

July 21st - SYC Cortez

Last night we had 24 boats here with 6 rafted to other boats.

I did some towels yesterday in the laundry room.

And we had a "Greenbox" last night at 5:30pm.  There were quite a few people who came up.  Everyone brought their own drinks & most brought appetizers.  It was fun to visit with everyone & later they had everyone introduce themselves.

When we came back we had a tuna casserole that Rod made.  I've been drinking lemonade with vodka, a lime & ice - very good.  Rod had scotch.

July 18th - SYC Cortez

Last night we had the 2 couples who have Flemings over for drinks & appetizers.  That ended up being our dinner too.  I made a brandied apple chutney on goat cheese with crackers & another couple brought toast points & a  dip.  We all had different drinks.

Today we had a number of boats leave & there are only 12 boats here tonight - an assortment of big & small boats.

Our plan is still to leave on Friday & go to Campbell River so we can do some shopping before our guests arrive.
We have Bob & Sylvia Cook coming - we used to stay with them in La Quinta when Rod was on the Pilchuk board.

July 16th - SYC Cortez

Tonight there are 21 boats here - another sailboat came in but is anchoring out as there is no room left here.
There are both large & small boats here.

Last night Kellie gave us some onion, broccoli, asparagus, zucchini & baby arugula & spinach.  Tonight our dinner was some of the arugula salad, broccoli & small potatoes.  She also made us 4 brownies - 2 we had last night & the other 2 tonight.

Today I did some laundry - one load with sheets, pillow cases, some of my underwear & Rod & my pajamas.  When I went up to do laundry there were 3 washers going so I had to wait for one to be free & also wait for the dryer.  I also took a shower this afternoon & Rod filled the boat with water.

We are going to leave here on Friday to go to Campbell River so we can do some shopping before our guests come on Saturday.  This has been a very lazy summer for us so far.  We spent a lot of time at Pender Harbour & now at Cortez.  Normally we are moving much faster to get to the Broughtons or elsewhere.

July 15th - SYC Cortez

Tonight there are 19 boats here - another large one tried to come in but there wasn't room for them - it's a 65' Tollycraft.  They'll come in tomorrow when our friends on Systole leave at 7:30am.

This morning around 10:00 a boat in front of us - across the end left.  We had help from our neighbors & others to take us towards the end of the dock so they could leave.  I told him this morning that we would move so they could get out.

Tonight we had Smoked Norwegian salmon slices - dill, traditional & pepper.  It comes with a honey mustard dill sauce & we have crackers with it.  We get it at Costco & it's very good.

July 13th - SYC Cortez

Tonight there are 15 boats here - again a few left & more came in.

Tonight we had hamburgers with cheese & the rest of the baked beans with pickles.  I had vodka with lemonade & a lime and Rod had gin & then a Hendricks.

I visited for awhile with Kellie.  They had guests coming today & so were washing their boat, windows etc & then cleaning the boat to get ready for them.

I think we will stay a few more days here as we don't have to be at Campbell River until the 22nd of July when we pick up the Cooks.
